How to Stay Motivated and Happy
The name really says it all.
Teaching is a difficult job, and burnout is a major issue. In this presentation, I give practical suggestions for surviving the job.
It was this presentation that inspired the “Best PD in Years” comment above.
Artificial Intelligence
Did you notice that I teach both social science and computer science? In my computer science courses, I teach the basics of how artificial intelligence and machine learning work. In both CS and social studies courses, I worry about the same things other teachers do: Is this student learning or are they using AI to cheat?
This background gives me a unique perspective on artificial intelligence. From using it as a tutor to helping students with research, I’ve helped teachers understand how it works.

Understanding how the psychology of emotion and stress helps prevent burnout – and bad decisions.
I’ve taught many sections of classroom management, but the one described above was my favorite and the most inspiring.
Tech Trainings
In addition to one-off trainings on anything from Instructure Canvas to GoGuardian, I set up an entire catalog of independent study courses for my school district. I created them, put them online, and taught them.
